It is the outcome of a long time plan to create a free, well-explained resource for materials science and metallurgy on the internet. Access to good textbooks is limited and the current resources don’t do a good job in teaching the materials in an intuitive style.

But textbooks do a good job of teaching, don’t they?

They do, but given that we have tools available currently that make the learning process even more easier than reading a textbook, why not use these?

The idea here is to cover the basics well, in a manner which makes it easy for someone to follow. We strongly believe that the onus is on teachers to introduce the concepts in an easy to follow and intuitive manner.
